We just added tons of food posts. For those of you that don't know, my parents got pretty sick this last year and spent some time in rehab--my mom from cardiac arrest, my dad from a stroke. They were in at the same time so it was kind of crazy. When they got out they kind of needed help with things like cooking and stuff.
And so, we kind of suddenly learned how to cook. We bought a 17 dollar 4.5 qt. crockpot which has made cooking super easy and uh, we're pretty great in the kitchen now. Haha. Most recipes we use aren't ours but a quite a handful on the right sidebar are. They are there for our quick reference and not because we're that awesome of cooks that we felt we had to share our recipes with the world.
Hospital bills are expensive and so most of those recipes are around 10 bucks per meal. We use organic free-range meat and canned products as much as possible, so our prices kind of spike in some areas but overall, we're not doing too bad.
These are the first five spices we bought. Easily in a couple of weeks, we ended up with about 25 that are all used in rotation. Before I started cooking spices were always a mystery to me. I didn't get how people knew what spices to use and how much. It took some trial and error but after some experimenting, it just kind of came second nature.
