This picture was taken on the way up to Idaho City a couple days ago.
- Akbash are classified as either cowardly or confident. Kira is unfortunately cowardly. She barks aggressively at other dogs and sometimes other people if they are nearby during walks. This is apparently one of the traits of cowardly Akbash.
- She is sometimes found barking at what seems like nothing. She tends to bark at imagined threats.
- Incredibly shy, she'll cower from strangers that try to pet her at the dog park.
- A week ago a dachshund escaped its backward and ran toward us on the sidewalk. Frightened, Kira ran from the dachshund with her tail between her legs
- Unlike the independent nature of her breed, she is very dependent on us. She follows us wherever she goes and whines if she can't find us.
- Her cowardly behavior is frustrating sometimes but other than that, she's a perfect dog. She's mastered the following tricks: sit, shake, lay down, play dead, cover your eyes, and backup. Although she'll only display certain tricks if she's interested in the reward...otherwise she'll often fall stubborn and becomes unwilling to perform.
- At the dog park we've been told her facial features resemble those of a Kuvasz, a breed from Hungary. She may indeed have some Kuvasz in her. Her facial features resemble those of this dog slightly more so than of the Akbash.
