Celebrating Birthdays (Part 1)

I didn't do that much for decorating this year. Just banners made from scrap paper.

Jake and I have been in different cities for the past four-five years and have not been able to celebrate our birthdays with each other because of which so this year we decided to celebrate our birthdays on the same day while we're together. It works out well since our birthdays are only two months apart.

I think we figured out that January 3rd is the day between both of our birthdays but we decided to celebrate at random. Christmas was a busy time for us and we didn't have any time to ourselves until the day we celebrated our birthdays and it happened to be New Year's.

We had a ten dollar limit for presents. Jake had to be silly and break this. Kinder is this incredible candy company in Germany and they make these great things called Happy Hippos. Jake got me two boxes.

Jake got my presents from the World Market. It's ironic because that's where I got his presents. Marzipan candy canes, flavored sodas (including raspberry ginger beer), and gummy bears. He loves gummy bears.

We started our day off by going to our favorite Hawaiian fusion restaurant, CK Hawaiian BBQ.

We went to the Discovery Center after lunch but it was closed due to the holiday. Instead we went to Ann Morrison to feed the birds.

The park is typically full of Canadian geese that LOVE people. They're so used to being fed that they'll approach people regardless of whether or not they have food. They stand inches away and it's really easy to feed them by hand.

The park was full of Canadian geese when Jake and I went but the ones we encountered must have flown in from somewhere else because they were timid and scared easily. The seagulls weren't, however.

Seagull envy. They're all looking at the one in the center.

After hanging out at the park, we drove to DK Donuts but unfortunately they were closed for the holiday too. We drove to the Westside Drive In instead which was recently featured in an episode of Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food Network.

This is where we found our new favourite drink, the coffee cooler.

We finished up the night by stopping by Wahooz to play some arcade games. I always manage to DEMOLISH jake shooting hoops but he beat me at Skee Ball. We were going to play mini golf but it was too cold outside. Instead, we went to an indoor black light mini golf course but it was closed too due to the holiday. Shucks.

We've decided to have a birthday re-do to get to do all of the things we missed out on due to the holiday. Keep watch for Part 2!
